Working Group No. 9
Poultry Welfare and Management
The group consists of 34 members plus 3 observers from 20 country branches of the European Federation.
The aims and objectives of Working Group 9 are:
- to ensure a membership which covers all European branches, as far as possible, with one or more members from those branches most involved in poultry welfare activities;
- to encourage the knowledge of poultry welfare and management by all means available including research and development;
- to share and disseminate such knowledge by taking part in conferences, publishing papers and reports in scientific journals, e.g. the WPS Journal, and encouraging others with relevant information and skills to do so;
- to meet regularly at least once a year to exchange information on current research and developments in poultry welfare;
- to organize and promote poultry welfare symposia along the lines of those already well established: to continue to promote the presentation of papers and posters and discussion upon them at these symposia on as wide a basis as possible and to publish and promote the proceedings;
- to co-operate with other working groups as and when appropriate
- to encourage poultry science students into the field of poultry welfare.
