Juliet (Julie) Roberts is President of the WPSA Australia Branch and an Associate Professor in Animal Science, School of Environmental and Rural Science, at the University of New England. Dr Roberts received her BSc (Hons) at James Cook University and PhD at Flinders University. She completed Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University of British Columbia, Canada and University of Arizona, USA before moving back to Australia to the University of New England. She teaches animal physiology and poultry science and has just completed six years as Course Coordinator for Rural Science, Agriculture and Animal Science degrees. Julie’s research focuses on egg quality and factors that affect it. She has recently completed research projects for the Poultry Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) and the Australian Egg Corporation Limited. She was a section editor for Poultry Science (USA) for 6 years and is on the Editorial Boards of the World’s Poultry Science Association, the International Journal of Poultry Science (Japan) and the Journal of Poultry Science (Iran). Julie spent a three year secondment as Education Coordinator for the first Poultry CRC during which time she was involved in improving access to vocational training in the Australian poultry industry. She is a regular attendee at WPC, European Poultry Congresses and the European Symposia on the Quality of Eggs and Egg Products. Julie is also on the organizing committee of the Australian Poultry Science Symposia which are held annually in Sydney, with invited international speakers. Julie has a particular interest in education at all levels including schools, vocational education, tertiary education and public education
