Professor and Head of the Animal Science department at the Faculty of Agriculture, Hebrew University.
Attained Masters and Doctoral degrees from the Hebrew University, in poultry immunegenetics followed by postdoctoral work at the Cornell Veterinary School. Research area is focused on few aspects of poultry nutrition. Among them are means for supporting the nutritional status of the hatchlings; the functional development of the chicken digestive system; the effect of feed and specific nutrients on gut integrity, function and performance. Published over 150 peer reviewed papers, reviews, chapters in books and abstracts in international poultry science conferences and meetings. Supervised over 35 MSc and PhD students in poultry science. Teach in courses for animal science university students, poultry farmers and poultry industry. Served as an Associate Editor, Metabolism and Nutrition section, for Poultry Science Journal (2003-2007). Member of board of the Israeli Poultry Science Branch (2001-2015). Member of the Scientific Committee of the European Poultry Nutrition group (since 2007). An invited speaker in various poultry conferences worldwide.
