Specialist in carbon balance evaluation of agropastoral systems

FAO has partnered with Cirad for the CaSSECS project and as a member of the Science Committee.

As part of this project, Cirad will be providing a specialist in evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions from pastoral and agropastoral systems to FAO's Animal Production and Genetics Branch (NSAG), for 2 years, in order to support FAO's contribution to the project.

This position is part of Cirad and FAO's joint efforts to improve data quality and provide a clearer picture of the impact that livestock farming has on the environment in pastoral areas.

We are looking for a Global Technical Manager – Poultry

The purpose of the position is:

To contribute to the optimization of our customers` experience via ensuring the technical side of our poultry product offering globally. 

Your tasks and responsibilities are:

  • under the professional guidance of the Global Unit Lead – Monogastrics, you are bringing Delacon's technical solutions to the market, professionally adapting them to the regional requirements together with the local sales colleagues
  • you are responsible for the technical content of our offers and the various forms of written technical materials
  • based on a solid market intelligence activity, you are continuously developing our solution portfolio in the poultry area
  • you are representing Delacon's poultry products at global events, conferences, and seminars, are conducting both internal and external training on nutrition issues and the modes of actions of our portfolio.

Your expected qualifications and professional background:

  • minimum MSc in animal nutrition or animal sciences, or veterinary
  • at least ten years relevant work experience (technical support or development), including fieldwork with broilers and layers alike – either in animal production or the animal feed business
  • international experience with company representation in front of various levels of stakeholders and decision-makers

Organizational Setting

The Programme Management Unit (PMU) of the FAO-Saudi Technical Cooperation Programme (2019-2025) facilitates, coordinates and manages all technical and advisory services to be provided by FAO to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MoEWA) of Saudi Arabia. The project UTF/SAU/051/SAU ‘Strengthening MoEWA's Capacity to Implement the Sustainable Rural Agricultural Development Programme is part of the FAO-Saudi Technical Cooperation Programme (2019-2025). The project is to provide technical and advisory assistance to the MoEWA in implementing its flagship sustainable rural agricultural development programme that has recently been approved within the context of the National Transformation Programme of the Saudi Vision 2030. The project’s expected results will be achieved through the implementation of nine project components: 1) Development of coffee Arabica production, processing and marketing; 2) Development of beekeeping and honey production; 3) Development of rose production and trade; 4) Development of subtropical fruits production, processing and marketing; 5) Strengthening capacity of small-scale fishers and fish farmers; 6) Strengthening capacity of small-scale livestock herders; 7) Development of rainfed cereal production; 8) Enhancing value addition from smallholdings and rural activities; and 9) Strengthening MoEWA's capacity in sustainable management of rangelands, forests and natural resources to support rural livelihoods.
The incumbent will be part of the PMU of the FAO-Saudi Technical Cooperation Programme in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will in particular support the strengthening of the capacity of small-scale livestock herders.
